Carrie (in Mexico Carrie, Un Extraño Presentimiento) is a 1976 American film directed and produced by Brian De Palma and starring Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie, Betty Buckley, Amy Irving and William Katt.

It is the first film adaptation of the famous novel of the same name written by Stephen King.

It was nominated for two Academy Awards (1977) for Best Actress (Sissy Spacek) and Best Supporting Actress (Piper Laurie).

Synopsis

A shy and introverted teenager who lives with her mother, a psychotic religious fanatic, is the object of constant ridicule and humiliation from her high school classmates. What everyone doesn't know is that Carrie has telekinetic powers.

About the Adaptation[]

  • In the dub, during the initial presentation, actress Sissy Spacek's surname is mistakenly pronounced Spack.
  • In the original language, the antagonist is named Chris Hargensen, while in the end credits she is credited as Chris Hargenson, the pronunciation given to her surname in the dub.
  • Profanity and strong dialogue were censored and replaced with softer words.
