Guillermo Romo was a Mexican radio, film, theater, dubbing, and announcer actor, known for being the voice of Kent Brockman in the first four seasons of The Simpsons, Quinton McHale in McHale's Navy and Alfred Pennyworth in the redoubling of Batman.

Actors he voiced include Ernest Borgnine, Lee J. Cobb, and Jack Klugman. It was also common to hear him as a voice-over for titles, inserts, and narrations.

Biography[]

He was a tanner, elevator operator, carpenter, interior decorator and sports photographer in his early days. He began his career as a broadcaster in 1940 because the sportswriter Joaquín Bauche Alcalde commended him to dedicate himself to broadcasting after hearing his voice. Later he ventured into media such as cinema and theater starting in 1945. His first prominent role in theater was as Don Juan Tenorio. In the 50s he was part of the Teatro en Atril, of the National Institute of Fine Arts.

Before dedicating himself to dubbing, he stood out as an announcer on various Mexican radio stations, including XEW, XEQ, XEX, XEB and XEOY. He had important work as an advertising and commercial announcer. He was the official announcer of "La Hora Nacional" for some years, in addition to starring and narrating several highly successful radio soap operas, such as Chucho el Roto, San Martín de Porres, Francisco Aguirre, among others. In the cinema, he had the opportunity to work in seventeen films.

For his artistic and union contributions, the annual award in the National Association of Announcers of Mexico for the best commercial announcer received his name, as well as the Guillermo Romo Guzmán I.A.P. dedicated to improving the conditions of elderly broadcasters in a vulnerable situation.

His remains rest in the Pantheon Mausoleos del Ángel in Mexico City.
