Bruce Banner, alias Hulk is a fictional character from the Marvel Comics universe. It is the strongest and most powerful creature in the Marvel universe.
His first appearance was in his homonymous comic Incredible Hulk #1 (May 1962) and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. In this comic, the Hulk has gray skin, which was chosen by Stan Lee, in the same comic by colorist Stan Goldberg's mistake, he also appears to have a green and even blue color. Finally deciding on the green color for later editions, the gray color remained as an alternate version of the character.
Banner, a scientist who designed a Gamma radiation bomb, realized that a young man; Rick Jones, had unknowingly entered the testing ground. He ran out to save him and heroically pushed him into a protective ditch which saved his life, but Banner was exposed to extreme amounts of radiation that altered the structure of his DNA. Thus, when Bruce gets angry or panicked, he transforms into a gigantic green creature with unquantifiable strength and endurance. His love interest, Betty, seemed to be the only person who could turn him back to normal, but she was the daughter of General "Thunderbolt" Ross, the man in charge of the original failed project from which Banner got his powers, and he seeks to capture him for hand it over for research or destroy it entirely. Because of that, Banner lives on the run and in an eternal search for a cure for his condition and to keep the beast within him as calm as possible.
