John Connor is a fictional character in the universe of the Terminator saga, in a possible post-apocalyptic future in which machines are dominant, he is the leader of the rebel group called 'The Resistance', which is opposed to machines.
Skynet, the artificial intelligence system that runs the machines, decides that Connor is the main supporter of the rebellion and that his death would mean the end of the opposition.
In this way, after several failed attempts to assassinate him during the war, Skynet decides to send a series of machines to the past (T-800, T-1000 and T-X) to end John Connor during various stages of his life, in an attempt to finish him off before the war starts. He is the son of Kyle Reese, and Sarah Connor.
