Mario Castañeda (born June 29, 1962) is a Mexican actor, dubbing director and voiceover artist. Recognized for his role as adult Son Goku in the Dragon Ball franchise. Mario is also the father of voice actors Carla, Arturo and Sofía Castañeda.

He is also the voice of various characters such as adolescent, adult and Narrator Kevin Arnold in the popular series The Wonder Years, Kanon of Gemini in Saint Seiya, Zapp Brannigan in Futurama, Don Ramón and Ñoño in El Chavo: The Animated Series, Bruce Banner / Hulk in the Marvel Cinematographic Universe and also for being the recurring voice of the actors Bruce Willis, Jim Carrey, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hanks, among others. In television series he has been Angus MacGyver in MacGyver and its films, the second voice of Ross Geller in Friends, Harrison Wells and his facets in the DC Comics Television Universe, Robbie Ray Stewart in Hannah Monatana, John Watson in Sherlock, among others.

Biography

He was born in Irapuato, Guanajuato, on June 29, 1962. When he was one year old, his parents moved to Mexico City, where he has lived since then. He studied dramatic acting at the Andrés Soler Institute of the A.N.D.A. from 1979 to 1982 and in June 1983 he began working as a dubbing actor in several television series such as Diff'rent Strokes, The Powers of Matthew Star and Visitors.

He was the official voice of the cable channel Boomerang from 2001 to 2008. He has also participated in TV Azteca as part of the image of the Azteca 7 channel.

He held the position of creative director of SDI Media de México from March 1, 2013 to mid-2014.[1]

In an interview that he kindly gave, Mario mentioned that the remembered actress and dubbing director Rosanelda Aguirre was the one who gave him one of his first opportunities in dubbing.

As of January 11, 2019, Mario's fingerprints were taken to be made of bronze, being the second voice actor to be granted recognition of this type, the first being Guillermo Romano.

On July 8, 2020, he published his first book “Elegido por el doblaje”, which can be purchased through Amazon.

Private life

Mario suffers from color blindness, a visual disease that makes it difficult to distinguish certain colors. He was married from 1987 to 2002 with the voice actress Rommy Mendoza. Mario is also the father of voice actors Carla, Arturo and Sofía Castañeda.
