Martín María Soto Portilla (born September 10, 1952 in Mexico City), better known as Martín Soto is a Mexican theater and dubbing actor. He is mainly known for voicing Professor Utonium in The Powerpuff Girls, Hugh Neutron in Jimmy Neutron, and Egon Spengler in the Ghostbusters animated series, films and series.

Biography

He studied acting at the Andrés Soler Institute, belonging to the National Association of Actors (ANDA) and starting in theater. Thanks to his acting school classmates Juan Alfonso Carralero and Patricia Martínez he entered the dubbing industry in mid-1982, being Jorge Santos who took him to the dubbing studio Estudios Sonoros Mexicanos where his first call was with Mr. Roberto Schlosser. His teachers were Narciso Busquets and Jorge Sánchez Fogarty, among others.

He has played a large number of roles, including the voice of Marvin the Martian in the fourth stage of Looney Tunes, Egon Spengler in the Ghostbusters franchise (in both the films and the animated series), the second voice of Count Count in Plaza Sésamo, Professor Utonium in The Powerpuff Girls, Neo in the first Matrix movie, Sledge Hammer! in the series of the same name, Ben Healy in Problem Child and its sequel, Rattrap in Beast Wars: Transformers, Uncle in Jackie Chan Adventures, Olympus in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, Jean-Luc Rieupeyroux in Step by Step, Marik Ishtar in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, and Jusenkyo's Guide in Ranma ½, among many others.

In August 2018, he began dubbing for an American preacher who did not allow him to do other dubbing work during the week until January 10, 2023. He currently wants to slow down his work rate due to his advanced age, but not retire from dubbing. His wish is to continue working in dubbing for the rest of his life.
