Víctor Mares Alcalá was a theater, radio and television actor, as well as director of dubbing. Known for having lent his voice to Larry Hagman in the television series I Dream of Jeannie, and to Major Don West in Lost in Space. He is also known for succeeding Carlos Petrel, who in turn succeeded Luis Manuel Pelayo in the radio serial Kalimán. He was the husband of María Becerril and father of Víctor Mares Jr. and Lydia Areli Mares.
He has worked as a voice actor in Los Angeles since the mid-1980s; Among some of his well-known roles were Mario in the Los Angeles dubbing of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, Scuttle and Grimsby in The Little Mermaid, as well as dubbing actors such as Anthony Hopkins, Charlton Heston, Sean Connery, Gene Hackman, Clint Eastwood among others.

He had a wide and rich career in the specialty of voice dubbing, which began in 1962 and where, in addition to acting, he served as dialogue director for many years. His artistic preparation was carried out at the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA).
During his professional career he did children's theater, with the Carrusel de Fantasia company, radio, television on Channel 13 in Mexico City, soap operas, such as El medio pelo and La frontera está cerca, participations in the program Angélica María presents, among many other works.
He was awarded in 1979 with the Aztec Calendar, awarded by AMPYT. He passed away in 2000 as a result of a heart problem.
